| Overview of the Program Q-1 cultural exchange program give applicants an opportunity to go to the U.S. to work in a job position in which they share the history, culture and traditions of their home country with the American public. Such positions could include: guest services, tour guide, food & beverage, cooking instructor, amusement park worker, dancer, performance artist, lifeguard, etc. The employers will have a cultural exchange program in place that will require the applicants to share and expose their Jamaican culture, talent and skills. The program could include - a Cultural Spotlight event; a Jamaican Day, or identify one day a week for Culture Sharing. Applicants could participate in many ways depending on their job positions, i.e. 1. Cooking a cultural dish 2. Mixing a cultural drink – which could be highlighted as “drink of the day” 3. Wearing our native costume 4. Singing & dancing (including folk songs & cultural dances) 6. Telling stories 7. Decorating – displaying Jamaican flags, etc. 8. Sharing the Jamaican history. 9. Introducing our Reggae our music |
| Program Requirements: - Must have minimum one year experience in the field that they are applying for. - Must have good communication skills. - Must be between the ages of 18-32 - Must be able to write an essay outlining why they would like to go to the United States and how they intend to share their culture. - Must be willing to act as Ambassadors for Jamaica.
