E-JAM matches teens with host company employers, to give teens real-world work experience and teach them business etiquette and professional skills. Part Time Job - Internship - Apprenticeship - Volunteer - might be your solution. No one will "give" you a job just because you're a teen who wants one. You have to "earn" a job. You'll need to prove to the company in advance, that you can do what is required of the job. Teens seeking jobs will have to overcome this negative perception. You can do this by preparing and demonstrating that you are willing to work. Here's how: 1. Learn and master basic English and math skills in school. 2. Learn how to follow directions. 3. Learn how to give each task you are assigned your very best. 4. Learn how to complete assignments on time every time. 5. Learn how to interact with others in a respectful manner. 6. Learn how to dress appropriately for work. 7. Learn how to complete job applications neatly and completely. 8. Learn how to communicate and demonstrate your mastery of the above to a potential employer during the interview. (Show them that you have a positive attitude, a willingness to work and learn, and that you can follow directions). |

Are You An Employer?Make a Difference in a Teen's Life If your company is looking for a way to give back to the community, consider becoming an Employ-A-Teen host company. Any size business may participate, it costs little money and time, but offers an excellent opportunity to invest in a teen's future. E-JAM will identify students (ages 14-19) who are high achievers, active in school activities and college-bound, to participate in the Employ-A-Teen program. We meet with each teen to determine his/her interests and career aspirations, we then match the teen's goals with a host company's position. We are asking h ost companies to consider employing a teenager for an eight-week period (June - August) in a full, or part-time. The teens should be assigned to a position that is rewarding and will allow them to learn the industry. Host companies should be committed to teaching and reinforcing business etiquette and to helping the teens develop professional skills.
