I submitted my resume to a job posting on the website. Do I need to re-submit my resume for other opportunities?
No. Once you have successfully uploaded your resume, we will retain your information for future opportunities. There is no need to submit your information more than once. Also, when submitting your resume, please upload in Word or Text only. Our system works best when you upload your information in a Word document. Be sure to put the correct Job Title (i.e. secretary, housekeeper, etc.) this makes it easier for employers to find you.
What kinds of jobs are available?
The majority of positions are i n the hospitality field, primarily in the U.S. Positions are generally for housekeepers, food servers, Chefs/Cooks, waiters/bartenders and other areas such as maintenance, grounds men/landscapers, drivers and packers.
We have just begun to target the Jamaican market and we will be accepting a wide range of jobs.
How do you find your employers?
Our Account Executives conduct research and seek out those employers who offer positions with flexible work- alternatives; we then encourage them to post with us. Many employers also post jobs on their own.
Will my skills be tested?
To ensure that you're the right candidate for a specific job, we may assess your skills and characteristics in order to place you in an environment in which you'll be successful. E- JAM works with all sizes of business, from small independent companies to large national corporations.
How long will it take to place me in a position?
It depends on the needs of our clients as well as your marketability, including your skills, availability, and flexibility.
How will I find the job I need?
When employers post jobs, they are requested to place their job opening under a specified category. The jobseeker is able to use the search tool within that category to locate a particular job title.
After searching your job listings, I didn't find the right job listed. Should I send a resume anyway?
E- JAM is growing, so we are constantly posting new opportunities. If you don't find a match this time, come back soon and try again. Or, send us your resume anyway. As new positions are available, we try to match opportunities with candidates in our database
What overseas programs do you offer?
Currently the majority of our placements are in the U.S. We offer seasonal employment for skilled and unskilled workers on an H2B work Visa. We also offer the Summer Work Travel and Training Program for college students on the J1 Visa.
What are the requirements for the H2B Visa?
You qualify for an H-2B visa if you are going to the United States to accept a temporary or seasonal non-agricultural job from an U.S. employer. You may apply if you have the correct background, skills or natural abilities needed by the employer. H-2B visas are targeted at skilled and unskilled workers. http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/visa_h2b.html
What are the requirements for the J1 Visa?
You meet the criteria for a J-1 exchange visitor visa if you are going to the United States as a student, scholar, trainee, teacher, professor, research assistant, medical graduate or international visitor who is participating in a program of studies, training research or cultural enrichment specifically designed for such individuals by the United States Department of State, through its Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs http://www.usimmigrationsupport.org/visa_j1.html
What is a "Cap"?
The word "Cap" refers to annual numerical limitations set by Congress on the numbers of workers authorized to be admitted on different types of visas or authorized to change status if already in the United States. For FY 2006, the total annual numerical limit or cap is 66,000 - 33,000 for the Summer and 33,000 for the Winter Season. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/services/tempbenefits/cap.htm
What is the age limit for the overseas Work Program?
The age limit is generally 18-45, for the H2B Visa program and 18-30 for the J1 Program.
When should you register for the U.S. Work Program?
Due to the length of time it takes to process the H2B visa, we would suggest applying seven months in advance of the approximate work date arranged by the Employers. The J1 Visa takes less time to process.
How much does the program cost and what does it include?
Program Fees vary depending on the employer. Program Fees include: Legal immigration costs to obtain work permit, security housing deposit, return airfare, medical insurance and placement fee.
Once I am assigned a job, can I go ahead and make plans to travel?
Job offers are made prior to the completion of the visa approval process. Please do not make travel plans until we receive notice of final visa approval from the Department of Homeland Security. Also, note that a job offer does not guarantee visa approval. We highly recommend that you do not quit your job, sell your car, or purchase any plane tickets etc. until we receive final approval.
Is it definite that I will be granted a visa?
The H-2B is subject to INS and consulate approval, this is not a guaranteed visa.
Am I able to work a second job?
No. The employer you will be working for is stamped on your visa documentation and therefore it is illegal to work for another employer.
Do I have to find my own housing?
We arrange with employers to provide affordable housing, in close proximity to the job site.

What is an H-2A and H-2B visa?
These are visas issued to non-immigrant workers allowing them to be employed in the United States for a period of less than 11 months. The H-2A visa is issued to temporary agriculture workers. The H-2B visa is issued to temporary non-agricultural workers such as housekeepers, landscapers and kitchen helpers. http://www.littletonlaw.net/immigration.shtml
When can an employer use the H-2A or H-2B visa?
U.S. Employers may petition for H-2A and H-2B alien workers when qualified U.S. workers are not available.
What steps are involved in getting the visa?
Step 1: An application must be filed with the state labor office. The application must include proof that the employer's need for workers is temporary.
Step 2: A labor certification must be obtained from the Regional Department of Labor stating that no U.S. workers are available to the employer. This step requires advertising in the local area newspaper.
Step 3: A petition with the labor certification attached is filed with the USCIS.
Step 4: The USCIS issues the Petition Approval and notifies the appropriate U.S. Consulate.
