Some Stipend positions are available which include, fully furnished housing, utilities and transportation to and from the training site at no fee – housing and transportation is part of the stipend package. Additionally, participants receive $400.00 per month stipend.

Trainee requirements
- Must have a degree or professional certificate at least one year of prior related work experience in his/her occupational field OR must have at least five years of related-work experience gained outside the United States in his/her occupational field.
- Apply for programs related only to their studies and/or professional experience
- Demonstrate English proficiency
- Participate in a documented in-person interview
- Get government-mandated sickness and accident insurance through the YMCA
- Enter the U.S. on the J-1 visa (change of status within the U.S. is not permitted)
- Leave the U.S. at the end of the program
Trainee applications submitted for consideration must include a copy of the degree/certificate in the occupational field applying for and proof of at least one year of related work experience or proof of a minimum of five years of related work experience if applicant does not hold a degree or certificate in the occupational field of training program.
Intern requirements
- Currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a degree- or certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States; OR
- Graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to his/her exchange visitor program begin date, and who enters the United States to participate in a structured and guided work-based Internship Program in his/her specific academic field.
- Be at least 18 years old by the start date of your program
- Apply for programs related only to their studies
- Demonstrate English proficiency
- Participate in a documented in-person interview
- Apply for the J-1 visa in their home country
- Enter the U.S. on the J-1 visa (change of status within the U.S. is not permitted)
- Leave the U.S. at the end of the program
- Maximum stay twelve months
Intern applications submitted for consideration must include proof of enrollment in a degree program in the field of the internship if currently a student or a copy of the degree/certificate in the occupational field.
